Challenge 2

Where in the World?

There was so many locations to choose from. I thought to do DC and maybe throw a little Scandal reference in the mix. But then I dug back to 2007, and found the Australian Collection. It’s a mix of bright, deep, and earthy reds and browns. Looking at the color palette, something clicked in my brain, it brought me to the hundreds of brush fries that are  currently devastating their continent.

Australia is famous for its amazing and unique wildlife and natural wonders. It has a growing list of endangered species and endangered plant life. Much of its native marine life can only be in Australia’s waters. Australia is home to The Great Barrier Reef, which is home to well over 3000 animal and fish species and over 1500 plant types. Australia is also home to many marsupials, like kangaroos, wombats, and wallabies. Koalas are also native to Australia. Just from brush fires this year, half of Australia’s koala population is thought to have perished. It’s believed that over 1 Billion animals have died so far. I watched way too many awful videos while doing research. There are  thousands of injured and severely burned marsupials that are suffering and need long term care.  Koalas and kangaroos are the endangered, but now with the fires, it may take generations to get the numbers back.

I included a few different ecosystems in my project. I have created a Eucalyptus Forest, which is a koala’s favorite meal. I also have kangaroos which are an iconic Australian species. I also wanted to show the underwater life, so I have an endangered Bull Stingray and a coral reef. I also sculpted the continent of Australia, and all of the red gems are currently active bush fires!  The Flora and Fauna definitely will take a long time, if at all, to repopulate. Challenge 1

Name of the Game

I was assigned Malaga Wine, the classic and deep red color from OPI. When I began doing some research into Malaga, learning more about the history, as well as the culture, and it was truly captivating. I am a history enthusiast, so finding out that one of my favorite artists (Picasso) was born in Malaga, I felt like it was meant to be. After brainstorming for a bit, and  watching some tourism videos as well, I realized what a beautiful, ancient, and artistic place Malaga is. I also learned more about the beginning of the wine trade dating back to 3000 BC. Malaga was one of the first places to export wine as well as grapes as table fruit. In my video I will explain in more detail why I chose to do this design.
